Stress is a conditioning of life that comes and goes. Short term stress that is clearly over when a crisis has passed gives us time to restore our systems to their normal state with little harm. However our mental and physical health can be really damaged with persistent, powerlessness and unrelieved stress.
Changes within families, relationships, work and other events can hit hard. Finding new strategies in order to cope may feel impossible. Exploring past and present issues can enable you to draw upon your awareness and discover positive solutions in taking control of the fear that stimulates the anxiety.
Everyone can feel low from time to time but depression goes further and can feel hopeless and desperate with all purpose in life gone. By exploring and understanding early experiences and relationships, previously unexpressed feelings can be expressed appropriately in the here and now enabling a greater sense of self awareness, purpose and fulfilment.

Being in a relationship, or making connection with others is part of the fabric of who we are as human beings. When relationships become strained, conflicting, difficult to engage in, or come to an end, this can leave us feeling shaken and unsure of how we move forward. Counselling can help explore the affects of these experiences and gain perspective and options for finding contentment where you are now. We would work towards being open to new relational experiences that may be different from those experienced in the past.
If you have suffered a life changing event, whether that be through abuse, violence, an accident or any event that has pushed you out of your normal resources, this may trigger feelings of overwhelm, shock and an inability to escape these events. We would work together slowly, safely and sensitively towards rebuilding the destruction that trauma can bring.
